Telugu Godfather (2022) Movie Review: Story

The story of Godfather revolves around the politician Brahma (Chiranjeevi), a powerful man who is loved by the public and can go any distance to save the people of the state. The death of PKR(Sarvadaman D. Banerjee), the current CM of the state has created a situation where from the public to politicians everyone is talking about their favourite candidate for the position of next CM of the state.

An investigative journalist Govardhan(Puri Jagannadh) talks about the list of people who has a higher chance of becoming the next CM of the state. Among them, Satya(Nayanthara), the daughter of PKR, and Jai(Satyadev)  Satya’s husband have higher chances.

Apart from them, home minister Narayana Verma(Murali Sharma) and politician Brahma (Chiranjeevi) also have equal chances of becoming the next CM. Govardhan termed Brahma as the most dangerous and mysterious man. The rest of the story revolves around who finally will become the next CM of the state.

Performances & Analysis

Chiranjeevi’s last two movies Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy & Acharya did not perform well at the Box office so the expectation from Godfather is quite high. It has been made for the mass audiences keeping in mind Chiranjeevi’s stardom and I am sure his fans won’t be disappointed. His outstanding performance is the best part of this movie. He looked equally energetic and flawless in his dialogue deliveries as well as in action sequences.

Satyadev Kancharana as Jaidev is absolutely brilliant in the negative role. The character of Nayanthara as Sathyapriya Jaidev didn’t receive much focus else she could have delivered a far better performance.

Salman Khan as Masoom Bhai in a cameo provided a fantastic performance. His appearance especially in fighting sequences is a treat for the audiences.

Murali Sharma as Narayana Verma, Samuthirakani as ACP Raghuram, Puri Jagannadh as Govardhan, and Sunil as Koti also have delivered decent performances. Music by Thaman S, Editing by Marthand K. Venkatesh, and Cinematography by Nirav Shah are the other highlights of the movie.

There are areas where the pace of the narrative became a little bit slow. Barring a few flaws like this Director Mohan Raja’s storytelling looks okay. He did not copy Lucifer frame to frame instead he added his elements to make the narrative of Godfather engaging.

Lucifer is the highest-grossing Malayalam film till date with more than Rs 200 crore Box office collection and it was a gripping drama that had almost no dull moment in it. But Godfather mainly suffers due to poor writing; the story was very much predictable and lacks twists in it.

Final Words

Godfather movie is a Political thriller that is made for mass audiences and its highlights are Chiranjeevi’s power-packed performance, Salman Khan’s cameo, Satyadev & Nayanthara’s significant performances, and the action sequences.
