Belashuru (2022) Review: Story, Performance & Analysis:

An infantile Alzheimer’s patient Arati Sarkar (Swatilekha Sengupta) is taken care of by his loving and caring husband Bishwanath Sarkar (Soumitra Chatterjee), who suddenly ran away from their house one day.

After coming to know about the incident, their 4 children: eldest daughter Kaberi aka Buri (Aparajita Adhya), second daughter Malashree aka Mili(Rituparna Sengupta), youngest daughter Piu (Monami Ghosh), & only son Barin(Shankar Chakraborty) decided to look after their mother going forward.

Bishwanath did not agree with this & he shared his regret of not being able to give enough time to the family, especially to Arati. He is more concerned about her wife’s health now & he has decided to give his complete focus on Arati. He also requested their children to stay there in Santiniketan & do all types of treatments possible from their end to help her mother recover.

Arati is unable to recognize Bishwanath & others in the family & she is now behaving like a child. From feeding her, cleaning her feet, & flushing her toilet Bishwanath does everything for Arati. Their children as well as Kaberi’s husband Jyotirmoy (Kharaj Mukherjee), Barin’s wife Sharmistha(Indrani Dutta), & Mili’s husband Bijon (Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee), & Piu’s husband Palash (Anindya Chatterjee) everyone supported Bishwanath to improve Arati’s health condition.

Belashuru is about the magical on-screen chemistry of Soumitra Chatterjee and Swatilekha Sengupta. The pair will keep you hooked to your seats throughout. The best part of the movie was undoubtedly the climax where the scenes are going to make you cry.

The film makes us aware of the importance of relationships in our lives. It makes us cry to miss people when they are not around, so it is better to value every relationship when our near and dear ones are around us.

The movie’s response was very good as it had the biggest opening as well as the biggest first week after the pandemic & became the highest grosser of 2022. It really hurts when we think about the fact that we won’t be able to see this pair’s magical performances ever again.

Besides the lead pair, others including Shankar Chakraborty, Rituparna Sengupta, Sujoy Prasad Chatterjee, Kharaj Mukherjee, Aparajita Adhya, Shankar Chakraborty, Indrani Dutta, Monami Ghosh, Anindya Chatterjee provided good contributions in supporting roles.

One might say the story added nothing new to it & we have seen movies with a nearly similar story to this film but I think Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee deserve the credit for the execution and bringing the best from two legendary actors of the Industry.

Anupam Roy & Anindya Chatterjee’s music, Subhankar Bhar’s cinematography, & Moloy Laha’s editing were the other highlights of Belashuru.

Final Words

If you love watching good performances, & family drama then Belashuru is a must-watch.
