Earlier the movie was scheduled to be released in theatres on 28th August 2020 but got delayed due to the pandemic. Finally, the makers have announced to release it on 31st December 2021.

Shahid Kapoor & Gowtam Tinnanuri's Maiden Collaboration:

Gowtam Tinnanuri made his Telugu directorial debut in 2017 with the movie “Malli Raava” starring Sumanth & Aakanksha Singh. His second movie “Jersey”, a sports drama movie starring Nani, Shraddha Srinath, Sathyaraj, earned him accolades and positive reviews from the critics. The grand success of this movie had encouraged the makers to go for a Hindi remake.

Gowtam Tinnanuri's Bollywood Directorial Debut:

Shahid Kapoor starrer “Jersey” is Gowtam Tinnanuri’s third movie and it will mark his Bollywood directorial debut. Producers Dil Raju, Allu Aravind, and Aman Gill will bankroll this sports drama film under their production houses Sri Venkateswara Creations and Geetha Arts.

Mrunal Thakur & Pankaj Kapur will be portraying the characters of Shahid Kapoor’s wife & his coach respectively. Mrunal Thakur starred in director Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s movie “Toofaan” opposite Farhan Akhtar which was released on Amazon Prime Video a few months ago. She will be also seen in upcoming movies like “Dhamaka”, “Aankh Micholi”, “Pippa”.

The hot debate at the moment is whether Shahid Kapoor can outdo Nani or not. In an interview, Nani expressed his confidence in Shahid Kapoor and thinks he might be outdone by the Bollywood star.

If you have watched Nani starrer “Jersey” then you might have seen that he played the character of Arjun with utmost perfection. Shraddha Srinath and Sathyaraj were not to be forgotten either as both of them were outstanding with their respective characters of Arjun's wife Sara Arjun & his coach Murthy.

After Shahid Kapoor’s performance in the romantic drama “Kabir Singh” in 2019, he has raised the bar of audiences’ expectations from him. So, there is no doubt that audiences are expecting something big this time also from the “Jersey” movie. But, before the release of this movie, it will be quite unfair to predict who has left a bigger impression in audiences’ hearts.
