Boyfriends and Girlfriends Review: Story

The story of this web series revolves around 3 best friends Ujaan (Riddhi Sen), Soumya (Rwitobroto Mukherjee), and Bunty (Ujan Chatterjee). Each one of these childhood friends has struggles in life.

Ujaan was searching for a rented flat but after visiting a few, he found it quite difficult. Finally, he arrived at a place where Amrita(Ishaa Saha) offers him to stay with her as her flatmate.

Soumya often had a fight with his partner Shreya (Adrija Roy) for being unable to give her the deserved attention and care to strengthen their relationship.

Soumya has feelings for Ujaan’s ex-girlfriend Riya (Madhurima Ghosh) but she believes in having multiple relationships.

Bunty loves and cares for his friend Sumona, but she is already engaged to Sourav. Bunty was connected with Sourav through a dating app and later he also grows feelings for him.

Performance & Analysis

Ujan Chatterjee & Riddhi Sen came up with good performances. Ishaa Saha, Adrija Roy & Madhurima Ghosh did well during their given screen presence.

Rwitobroto Mukherjee, who delivered impressive performances in Bengali movies like Generation Ami & Dwitiyo Purush, failed to impress in this web series. His performance was not up to the mark in Boyfriends and Girlfriends as he looked a little bit lost in a few scenes with expressions and dialogue deliveries.

What was good about this web series?

The fun and fighting moments among the three friends were parts of Hoichoi’s Boyfriends and Girlfriends romantic drama series. Amit-Ishaan’s music & background score also deserves a mention here.

What was bad about this web series?

If you have watched all Mainak Bhaumik movies, then you certainly know the main plot looks quite similar in most of them. Debutant director Suvankar Paul certainly tried to bring something for the youths but the script lacked the freshness.
