Skater Girl Movie Story & Performances:

The movie started with a scene where we saw an overjoyed Ankush (Shafin Patel) was sitting on a rudimentary skateboard and his elder sister Prerna (Rachel Saanchita Gupta) was pulling it with a rope.

They grew up at Khempur, a small village of Rajasthan where people are separated based on their caste. They are from the backward class so they are treated accordingly by others. Prerna’s classmate Subodh(Vinayak Gupta) who is a Brahmin but helped her and later formed a good friendship with her.

The story took a turn when Jessica (Amrit Maghera) arrives at Khempur to spend her holidays and refreshing her memories of childhood. A few days later her friend Erick (Jonathan Readwin) also arrives there with a skateboard that attracts children including Prerna.

They requested Erick to train them for skateboarding and he agreed. The story became more interesting with progress. There was also a Skateboarding competition in the climax.

Desert Dolphin was the title the movie was given during the production phase. Director Manjari Makijany is also the writer of this movie along with her sister Vinati Makijany. They are the daughters of the actor Mohan Makijany best known as Mac Mohan, who played the character of “Sambha” the the “Sholay” movie starring Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra.

The well-written characters and Salim-Sulaiman’s music were the strong areas of “Skater Girl”. Manjari Makijany was the assistant director on Bollywood movies like Wake Up Sid starring Ranbir Kapoor and Saat Khoon Maaf starring Priyanka Chopra.

Rachel Saanchita Gupta delivered an outstanding performance as Prerna. Shafin Patel was not far behind and contributed with a pivotal performance as Ankush. Waheeda Rahman was seen in a cameo appearance as Maharani.

Amrit Maghera & Jonathan Readwin contributed with satisfactory performances. Amrit Maghera’s fight against all odds was another good point about “Skater Girl”. The rest of the cast also contributed well with their respective characters.

In the end, the "Skater Girl" sports drama movie sends a strong message to every parent that we should encourage our children to follow their dreams and give them one chance to do what they want. One small step can change their whole life.
