Raat Akeli Hai Review: Story & Performances

Raat Akeli Hai movie is certainly the best crime thriller released on the OTT platform to date. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has put another brilliant performance here. His character of sub-inspector Jatil
Yadav was simply the show-stealer.

His actual name was Jatin but while doing the form fill up for the board exam a mistake has changed it from Jatin to Jatil. He gets a rejection by many girls due to his dark complexion. He uses fairness cream daily hiding it from her mother. He used to get involved in a fight with his mother played
by Ila Arun regarding his marriage.

The film started with two brutal murders thereafter Raghubeer Singh played by Khalid Tyabji was killed on the day of his second marriage with Radha played by Radhika Apte. Raghubeer Singh’s family was not a united one and they rarely trust each other.

With the progress of the investigation, Jatil Yadav came to know that Radha had an affair with Vikram played by Nishant Dahiya who is Raghubeer’s nephew. Other family members of Raghubeer Singh includes Raghubeer’s son Ravi played by Nitesh Tiwari, his pregnant daughter(Shweta
Tripathi) and her husband(Gyanendra Tripathi), Raghubeer’s brother-in-law(Swanand Kirkire), niece (Shivani Raghuvanshi).

Raghubeer Singhs’ family friend MLA Munna Raja played by Aditya Srivastava was not happy with Jatil Yadav’s investigation as he was getting close to find the killers. MLA Munna Raja informed Jatil Yadav through Jatil’s boss Lalji Shukla played by Tigmanshu Dhulia. After a few interactions
with the maid, Jatil was sure that the maid knew some secrets but later she was also killed. The rest of the story went through how Jatil successfully found the real killer of Raghubeer Singh.

Talking about the performances it was a top-notch performance from Nawazuddin Siddiqui, his role as a sincere and responsible cop will keep you in the hunt for the truth. Radhika Apte has also done a very good job here. Tigmanshu Dhulia also offered a decent performance here. He will be playing a crucial role in the Tandav web series. Overall we can say it was a complete team effort from every department that has resulted in such a masterpiece.

Director Honey Trehan has tried to keep enough focus on every crucial character which led the story to unfold slowly and nicely. He was very much successful in keeping the suspense alive and this was brilliant and almost perfect storytelling.

If you are searching for a good crime thriller to watch during this lockdown then definitely go for Raat Akeli Hai. The movie is currently streaming on Netflix.
