Freddy (2022) Movie Review: Story, Performances & Analysis

The story of Freddy begins with a renowned dentist Freddy Ginwala (Kartik Aaryan) who is looking a bit nervous about his date with Shirin Mistry (Harshika Kewalramani). Being a shy, introverted guy he is unable to make eye contact properly and his look makes girls uncomfortable which is one of the reasons he gets rejected every time.

He found Kainaz Irani (Alaya F) at a party & fell for her at the first sight & considers her his soul mate. He was beaten badly at the party by Kainaz’s husband Rustom Irani (Sajjad Delfrooz) for attempting to start a conversation with her.

The very next day Kainaz visited Freddy’s clinic for the treatment of her tooth and to say sorry on behalf of her husband. Soon they get closer to each other & when Freddy found that Rustom is a violent husband, he decided to eliminate him and marry Kainaz. Will Freddy be able to kill Rustom and marry Kainaz?

Kartik Aaryan and Director Shashanka Ghosh’s maiden collaboration is a treat to watch. This is Shashanka Ghosh’s second directorial movie of 2022 after Plan A Plan B starring Riteish Deshmukh and Tamannaah. Though the previous one did not leave a good impact, Shashanka Ghosh wins hearts with his storytelling in Freddy. Also, the way he brings Kartik Aaryan’s new avatar through this movie in front of us is really appreciable.

Kartik Aaryan’s experiments with a character like this one & the one he portrayed in Dhamaka are enjoyable. The story looks nothing new if we see Netflix or Amazon Prime then we will come across many such thrillers, but Kartik’s performance will keep you hooked to your seats.

The scene where he stammers during his date with Shirin or the scene when at the climax he punishes both Kainaz and her boyfriend Raymond (Karan A Pandit) perfectly shows his ability to portray challenging roles at ease. His upcoming movies Shehzada, and Satyaprem Ki Katha both will release in 2023.

Alaya F as Kainaz Irani looks stunning and her performance was equally impressive. Karan A Pandit and Sajjad Delfrooz looked okay with their respective characters.

Shashanka Ghosh's directorial film also looked good from the technical aspects. The music by Pritam, background score by Clinton Cerejo, editing by Chandan Arora, and Cinematography by Ayananka Bose are the other highlights of this movie.

Final Words:

The psychological thriller Freddy is worth your time because of Kartik Aaryan’s top-notch performance & brilliant storytelling by Director Shashanka Ghosh.
